Saving With The Credit Union
The main aims of the Credit Union is to encourage the habit of regular savings and help all members to borrow as cheaply, safely and affordably as possible.
To be able to offer low-cost loans, we need regular Savers because although you are easily able to withdraw your money, every penny which is lent to someone in our local Community has been saved by someone else.
If the Credit Union makes a surplus we pay an annual dividend to all Adult Savers. (Junior Savers receive a competitive rate of interest).
You will be invited to attend the Annual General Meeting which every year discusses the payment of a dividend.
Even if you never need a loan - investing part of your savings, safely with First Dorset Credit Union will help us to help others in your community.
The Credit Union is a member of the Association of British Credit Unions Limited and is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority. These legal requirements are very strict - just as strict as they are for a High Street bank.
All savings including Christmas savings accounts are protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
Your financial affairs will be treated in strict confidence.
There are a number of accounts you can open which are detailerd here.
